Antonov plc

Message from the CEO

AntonovWe are pleased to be able to announce the successful delivery of the six speed automatic transmission prototype milestone. This has involved not just having vehicles running well - which was completed last month - but achieving independent targets for all aspects of the transmission performance including efficiency.
Efficiency is particularly challenging as we have not yet carried out any development work to improve this. The work will involve ensuring the oil pump is working at the minimum possible level and that the internal oil flows to the clutches are optimised. With too little oil, there is friction drag but also with too much they start to generate viscous drag. This is all work to be done in the next phase.
Despite being at such an early stage in the programme, we are very pleased to report that we are already acheiving excellent efficiency results, particularly for the EU urban cycle where the standard VW automatic gives 10.2 l/100km and the Antonov Automatic is giving 9.8 l/100km.
We now need to finalise commercial terms in respect of the proposed manufacturing joint venture and secure agreements with interested vehicle makers. We will continue to keep you updated with further developments when appropriate.

About Us

AntonovAntonov plc is a business founded on the patented inventions of Roumen Antonov.

It was listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange in May 1995 and the Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 1997.

Since then it has invested more than £30 million in research, product development and continuing innovation to bring its inventions to market by licensing them to customers.

The intellectual property assets of the business are focused on the automotive market, but will also be used in other industrial and leisure applications.

The Group has a strong R&D facility in Warwick, UK, which designs, prototypes and develops all types of mechanical transmissions.

Antonov manufactures superchargers for high performance aftermarket applications and is developing new products based on its patented 2 speed mechanical shift module.

It is also developing a passenger car 6 speed transmission for production in China. This will offer low volume vehicle makers the opportunity to provide a cost effective, world class automatic transmission option on their vehicles.

In conjunction these product development activities, Antonov licences its technologies. To support these technology licences we provide design, analysis and development support to our clients from our Warwick Technical centre throughout the product development process.
